The city of Xàtiva will host the Backyard Borja's Extreme this Friday, May 1, an ultramarathon that tests participants' endurance with an innovative format.

Organized by the KM3 Xàtiva Club, this sporting event is based on the Backyard Ultra discipline, where runners must complete a lap of approximately 6.7 kilometers every hour. The competition continues successively until only one person remains in the race, emphasizing mental fortitude over speed.
A total of 118 runners will participate in this first edition. Most will face the most demanding modality, with no limit on laps, while a smaller group will opt for a shorter version, ideal for testing the challenge. The start and finish lines will be located around La Bola School, which will also be the central point for refreshments and rest areas.
The route, designed in a mountain environment, combines 70% trails, 20% forest track, and 10% asphalt, with a positive elevation gain of about 250 meters per lap. The event attracts participants from outside the Valencian Community, including runners from Madrid and the Canary Islands, as well as representatives from local clubs in Xàtiva. Alcoy is the town contributing the most participants, with fifteen.

"There is participation from outside the Valencian Community, with runners from Madrid or even the Canary Islands."

Juan Chiloeches · Treasurer of KM3 Xàtiva
Among the participants, José Manuel Huertas, a representative of the Spanish national team in the World Cup, stands out. This event will test not only the physical preparation but also the mental capacity of the athletes in a discipline where endurance is key to victory.
