Several municipalities in the province of Valencia experienced maximum temperatures above 30 °C during Friday. According to data from the Valencian Meteorology Association (Avamet), Xàtiva, in La Costera, was the hottest spot with 30.7 °C. Other nearby locations also exceeded this mark, such as la Pobla Llarga with 30.3 °C, Gavarda and Anna with 30.1 °C, and Càrcer with 30 °C.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) confirmed that Xàtiva also recorded 29.7 °C, a three-degree increase compared to the previous day. Other notable readings include 29.6 °C in Carcaixent, in La Ribera Alta, and 28.9 °C in Bicorp, in La Canal de Navarrés. In the city of Valencia, the maximum was 26.6 °C, while in Llíria, in El Camp de Túria, and at Manises airport, temperatures reached 28 °C.
In the regions of Alicante, Elche, in El Baix Vinalopó, reached 28.8 °C and Novelda, in El Vinalopó Mitjà, 28.1 °C, with the capital, Alicante, recording 27.3 °C. To the north, in Castellón, Atzeneta del Maestrat, in L'Alcalatén, marked 28.7 °C, and the capital of La Plana Alta, 25.9 °C. The lowest temperature was recorded in Fredes, in Els Ports, with 20 °C.
This heat episode will give way to a significant change in weather over the weekend. Aemet forecasts an increase in the concentration of suspended dust from Saturday morning until Sunday morning. The agency explained that the whitish sky observed on Friday was already an indicator of this "significant load of suspended dust".
“"If you are asthmatic or have respiratory problems, wear a mask and close your home's windows."
The dust concentration will be highest between Saturday and Sunday, moving towards the Mediterranean throughout Sunday. The Emergency Coordination Center 112 has issued a warning, advising that the haze reduces visibility and worsens air quality. Therefore, it recommends precautionary measures for people with respiratory problems.
Temperatures, which remain high this Friday, will begin to drop on Saturday, with a generalized decrease on Sunday. This change will be accompanied by cloudy skies and precipitation. Aemet noted that "the thermal drop, cloudy skies, and Sunday's precipitation will remind us that we are still at the beginning of spring".
