A group of health professionals gathered this Monday in front of the main entrance of Dénia Hospital to demand the professional reclassification of Senior and Intermediate Technicians of the National Health System. The protest is held under the slogan “Reclassification now: fulfilling the agreement is an obligation”.
The collective denounces the non-compliance with the commitment acquired in the Framework Agreement for a 21st Century Administration, signed in 2022 by the Government of Spain and the most representative trade union organizations. According to the manifesto signed by UGT and CCOO, the new professional classification, which should have been implemented throughout 2023, “has been stalled for four years”.
The unions point out that thousands of professionals continue in a category they consider “obsolete” and which does not adequately recognize their training, skills, or responsibilities. The demand calls for the reclassification of Senior and Intermediate Technicians into groups B and C1, a measure provided for in the Basic Statute of Public Employees.
UGT and CCOO attribute the blocking of the measure to the Ministry of Finance, arguing that the authorization of the necessary economic transfer would allow the Ministry of Health to implement the reclassification “immediately”. Those gathered have called for the approval of this economic provision and the full compliance of the Framework Agreement.
During the protest, banners with messages such as “No health without technicians” or “Professional Recognition Senior Technicians B and Group C1” were displayed. The unions warn that if the blockade persists, they will intensify their mobilizations.
