Beniparrell is listed among municipalities with a high flood risk due to its unique geographical characteristics and susceptibility to inundation. In recent years, the town has experienced intense, often torrential and persistent rainfall, leading to floods in both its residential urban core and industrial areas.
The Picassent ravine crosses the urban center of Beniparrell less than 2.5 kilometers from the Poyo ravine as it passes through Catarroja, in the area known as the "ground zero" of the October 2024 DANA. Furthermore, the Picassent ravine basin, along with its tributary, the Realón ravine, is located immediately south of the Poyo ravine basin.
Planned interventions to mitigate flood risk include widening the ravine's channel, improving existing bridges, and increasing drainage permeability under the V-31. The most immediate execution works will focus on expanding the hydraulic capacity of existing infrastructure, specifically the structure under the València-Xàtiva railway line, the widening of the Vereda street bridge, and improving drainage under the V-31.
