Beniparrell is on the list of municipalities with a high flood risk due to its unique characteristics and susceptibility to inundation. In recent years, the town has experienced episodes of intense, locally torrential, and persistent rainfall, which have caused flooding in both its residential urban core and industrial areas.
The Picassent ravine crosses the urban center of Beniparrell, located less than 2.5 kilometers from the Poyo ravine as it passes through Catarroja, an area known as the 'ground zero' of the DANA of October 2024. Furthermore, the basin of the Picassent ravine, along with its tributary, the Realón ravine, is situated immediately south of the Poyo ravine basin.
The planned actions to reduce flood risk include widening the riverbed, improving existing bridges, and increasing drainage permeability under the V-31. The most immediate execution works will focus on expanding the hydraulic capacity of existing infrastructures, specifically the structure under the València-Xàtiva railway line, the Vereda street bridge, and the drainage under the V-31.
