Torrent's Active Aging Center (CEA) on Saturday resumed hosting dances for seniors, a highly requested activity that had not taken place for eight years.

More than 60 users participated in the first dance afternoon, held at the center on Caja de Ahorros street. This revival is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Social Services, Equality, and Housing and the Torrent City Council, fulfilling a commitment made to the city's seniors.
The dances were suspended eight years ago due to the need for soundproofing work in the hall. These works, carried out by the Generalitat Valenciana, have fully conditioned the space to avoid disturbing neighbors. The Torrent City Council has provided staff for the facility's opening and to assist participants.
The new service will initially run on Saturdays from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the possibility of adjusting the schedule based on user preferences. The mayor, Amparo Folgado, accompanied by councilor Amparo Chust, shared the inaugural day with attendees, thanking them for their patience and highlighting the Generalitat Valenciana's investment.
“Today we fulfill a commitment we made to our seniors. I personally insisted that dancing return to the CEA because we knew how important it was for many people. Thanks to inter-administrative collaboration and the effort made, today we are once again enjoying this fully equipped space prepared for them,” stated the mayor.
Folgado emphasized that dancing is a tool for fostering social relationships, staying active, and improving seniors' quality of life. Torrent already offers four weekly dance sessions in various locations, expanding opportunities across different neighborhoods.
The dance program for seniors until the summer holidays includes sessions on Thursdays at the Bellido Street Senior Center, Fridays at l’Espai Sant Gregori, and Saturdays at both the CEA and the Las Américas Shopping Center, as well as Sunday sessions at the latter.
