The Torrent City Council will display the rainbow flag at the town hall every May 17, coinciding with the International Day Against LGTBIQA+phobia, as a visual symbol of recognition for the right to equality.

This measure is part of a motion presented by the municipal group Compromís-Podem-Esquerra Unida, which was approved in the last plenary session with the support of the PSPV-PSOE and the abstention of the Partido Popular and the Non-Attached Councilor, despite the votes against from Vox.

"Today Torrent is a city committed to being freer and safer for everyone. We have managed to make the plenary say 'enough' to hatred and advance in real measures for equality, and we perceive it as a step towards normality that the PP has not positioned itself against the proposal, but we are aware that they have not been able to decisively walk in favor of basic human rights. Equidistance in the face of discrimination is, in practice, a form of complicity."

The motion also includes the recognition of the right to equality, specific training for public staff on diversity, the fight against school bullying, and the promotion of awareness campaigns reaching all neighborhoods of the municipality.
The coalition criticized the stance of the Partido Popular, which abstains in Torrent while attempting to reverse social advances in the Generalitat Valenciana. The motion directly references the recent ruling by the Constitutional Court that suspended important articles of the Valencian Trans Law, promoted by the regional government, due to potential violations of fundamental rights.
Furthermore, the motion approved in Torrent urges the Generalitat not to reduce regional rights concerning state rights in LGTBIQA+ matters, with the aim of consolidating an effective legal framework. The coalition also rejected the attitude of Vox, which remains the only force openly opposing the rights of the collective.
