The Torrent City Council has approved the awarding of the contract for the maintenance and conservation service of the municipality's forest areas, a key action for the protection of the natural environment and the prevention of risks in the city's forest spaces.

The contract has been awarded for a total amount of 584,405.96 euros (VAT included) for the four-year duration (plus a possible one-year extension), with an additional allocation for extraordinary services that can reach up to 27,500 euros annually depending on needs. With this award, the council reinforces its commitment to the conservation of Torrent's natural heritage, ensuring proper management of municipal forest areas and strengthening prevention against fires, pests, and other environmental risks.
The service includes forest maintenance work and silvicultural actions aimed at improving the conservation status of the municipality's natural spaces. Key planned actions include plantations, maintenance pruning, removal of dry or diseased trees, pest treatments, opening of auxiliary fire protection strips, control of invasive species, and maintenance of forest trails, among other tasks.
These actions will be carried out in various forest areas of the municipal district, notably including Serra Perenxisa, El Vedat de Torrent, ravine beds, and the network of forest trails promoted by the City Council, as well as other public areas with a forest character. The main objective is to ensure sustainable management of natural spaces, promoting the natural regeneration of forest masses, improving their health, and reducing the accumulation of plant fuel, which helps minimize the risk of forest fires.

"This contract allows us to continue advancing in the protection and conservation of our natural spaces, which are part of Torrent's environmental heritage and which we must preserve for future generations."

Amparo Folgado · Mayor of Torrent
Among the most notable novelties of the service is the provision of a permanent forest brigade in the municipality, which will allow continuous intervention and a rapid response to any need detected in Torrent's natural spaces. In addition, the contract includes the use of specialized machinery and appropriate technical means, as well as the preparation of annual action plans to efficiently plan interventions.

"The conservation of our forest areas is a priority for the City Council, not only from an environmental point of view, but also from a safety and prevention perspective, especially in areas close to homes or infrastructure."

José Gozalvo · Councillor for Urban Planning and Environment
