This investment will be divided into 13 million for the northern zone and 10 million for the southern zone. These works are funded by the Government of Spain, as part of the 32.1 million euros received by the city council for repair, restitution, or reconstruction of municipal infrastructure, equipment, and services damaged by the DANA of October 29, 2024.
The Quart de Poblet City Council presented these actions to the business community in a meeting with the AEQP and the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ). The mayor, along with councilors and technical staff from the Urban Planning and Economic Promotion and Business departments, attended the meeting.
“"We will continue working, dialoguing, and acting so that our companies have the best possible conditions to grow, generate employment, and face the future with guarantees."
The storm caused significant damage in the industrial park, including pavement collapse, curb breakage, fissures, cracks, loss or damage to signage and beacons, and also to fences and enclosures. The city council will undertake the repair of these elements and the review of storm drains and sumps, among other recovery actions. Additionally, infrastructure will be improved with proposals such as new storm collectors or the construction of lamination ponds.
The valued reports for these repair and adaptation works, whose drafting was entrusted to the public company Tragsatec, have already been approved. The next step is the drafting of the project and the subsequent tender for the works.
At this meeting, CHJ technicians also presented to business owners the actions already underway and planned by their department to reduce exposure, vulnerability, and danger from floods. These are complementary to those that the Quart de Poblet City Council will develop, including the construction of several controlled storage areas upstream, the diversion and greenway of the Saleta ravine, protective embankments to reduce flows from the Poyo ravine, and actions in the upper and middle sections of this same ravine.
The works in the northern and southern zones of industrial park A are just two of the seven actions that the Quart de Poblet City Council will carry out with funding from the Government of Spain. The other five works funded with the 32.1 million include projects at the Auditori Molí de Vila, the Turia River natural-fluvial park, the reconstruction of rural roads, the repair of playgrounds and green areas, and the restoration of the Nature Interpretation Center and various municipal premises.
In addition to this contribution, the Government of Spain has already allocated nearly 190 million euros more to actions and investments in the municipality of Quart de Poblet, including infrastructure repair, assistance to affected individuals, and aid to businesses, workers, self-employed individuals, and agriculture, among others.
