The Paiporta City Council has allocated over 1.4 million euros in direct aid and campaigns to reactivate local commerce after the impact of DANA, with over 700 applications resolved.
Representatives from the Paiporta City Council, along with the Secretary of State for Commerce and the Government Delegation in the Valencian Community, held a working meeting to assess the state of local commerce after the impact of DANA. The meeting also included members of Confecomerç CV and the Paiporta Commerce Association (ACOPA), to review the progress of recovery measures and future challenges.
The City Council has implemented measures to strengthen local commerce, allocating 1,468,000 euros in subsidies. These aids aim to facilitate the reopening of establishments and boost commercial activity, creating new job opportunities in the municipality. The Secretary of State for Commerce highlighted support for the Valencian business sector, especially small businesses affected by DANA, with a mobilization of 16.6 billion euros in state-level aid.
The president of Confecomerç emphasized the need for support for local commerce to return to its pre-DANA situation and maintain employment. He encouraged promoting purchases from small businesses and activating measures such as Commerce Vouchers for citizens in affected localities. Coordination between administrations is seen as key to accelerating economic recovery.
To date, over 700 applications for direct subsidy lines have been resolved, representing more than 90% of businesses open or soon to open in the municipality. Additionally, 23 new establishments have been registered in 2026. The municipal budgets for 2026 also reflect this support, with 51,000 euros allocated to 'Commerce and Business Development', a 7.2% increase compared to 2025.
To promote local consumption, the Paiporta City Council has carried out several 'Commerce Voucher' campaigns with a total investment of 60,000 euros in the last fiscal year, tripling the aid allocated to the sector compared to 2024. During the Christmas campaign, 1,590 cards were distributed to incentivize purchases at local businesses participating in the program.
