The initiative, driven by the neighborhood platform Revivim Paiporta in collaboration with the City Council, was funded by a charity festival. The design is a joint proposal by sculptor Andy Rubio and architect Jaume Chiralt.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the mayor of Paiporta, Vicent Ciscar, deputy mayor Marian Val, members of the municipal corporation, association representatives, and dozens of residents.
The structure, forged from steel and 12,000 kilograms of concrete, symbolically depicts a local resident and a member of the state security forces, embodying the exemplary nature, bravery, and mutual support between the civilian population and emergency professionals.
The monument formally recognizes the coordinated efforts of the Local Police, Civil Protection, Guardia Civil, Firefighters, the Military Emergencies Unit (UME), NGOs, and thousands of anonymous volunteers who cooperated in the cleanup, debris removal, and rescue tasks.
“"This monument shows the strength of a town when it decides to walk together. It is a place of memory, respect, and gratitude, honoring the victims, but also the people who helped, accompanied, supported, and gave their best in the most difficult moments."
The project took shape thanks to the support of the 32 local associations integrated into Revivim Paiporta.
Mayor Vicent Ciscar highlighted the inauguration as a milestone in the town's emotional reconstruction, stating that the monument symbolizes a community that rose without leaving anyone behind, artistically representing the experiences and lessons learned from the DANA through unity and collective respect, and inviting reflection on the future without forgetting those who perished.
The mayor concluded by publicly thanking Revivim Paiporta for their perseverance in «turning pain into memory and collective dignity», assuring that Villa Amparo Park will henceforth be an open space that keeps alive the mutual affection of all healthcare workers, emergency teams, and civilians who are now part of Paiporta's history of resilience.
