The Mislata City Council has launched four climate shelters in municipal buildings and a refrigerated water fountain to combat high temperatures and promote sustainability.

The Mislata City Council has reinforced its commitment to sustainability and climate change adaptation by implementing new measures to protect citizens from the effects of high temperatures and promote more sustainable habits in public spaces.
Starting next Monday, a network of four climate shelters will be available, strategically distributed throughout the city: the Hogar del Quint, the Hogar del Sur, the La Fàbrica Sports Center, and the Carmen Alborch Cultural Center. These spaces will offer a safe and comfortable place to shelter during extreme heat episodes, especially for the most vulnerable individuals.
This initiative, first established two years ago, is part of the municipal climate change adaptation strategy, which aims to minimize the effects of increasingly frequent and intense heatwaves due to global warming.
Furthermore, the City Council, in collaboration with Aguas de Valencia, has installed Mislata's first urban fountain offering filtered, refrigerated, and free water. This infrastructure will allow residents to stay hydrated healthily year-round and will also contribute to reducing the consumption of single-use plastic containers, as it is specifically designed for refilling reusable bottles.
These measures are in addition to other actions promoted by the council in recent years to move towards a more sustainable and resilient city, such as expanding green areas, installing shading in parks, improving energy efficiency in municipal buildings, upgrading public lighting to LED technology, and conducting environmental awareness campaigns for citizens.

"The fight against climate change is not an option, but a responsibility that all administrations must assume. In Mislata, we are promoting concrete actions to protect our residents from the effects of extreme heat and to move towards a more sustainable, healthy city prepared for future challenges."

Carlos F. Bielsa · Mayor of Mislata

"The climate shelters and the new refrigerated water fountain are examples of useful and accessible measures that improve citizens' quality of life and reinforce our commitment to sustainability and collective well-being."

Carlos F. Bielsa · Mayor of Mislata
Through these initiatives, Mislata continues to consolidate a roadmap based on climate action, environmental protection, and the improvement of public services, placing people at the center of municipal policies.
