The Mislata City Council will strengthen citizen protection against heatwaves by creating four climate shelters in municipal buildings and launching the first free urban water fountain.

Starting next Monday, Mislata will have a network of four climate shelters strategically distributed throughout the city. These spaces, located at the Hogar del Quint, Hogar del Sur, La Fàbrica Sports Center, and the Carmen Alborch Cultural Center, will offer a safe and comfortable place to shelter during extreme heat episodes, especially for the most vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, or individuals with chronic conditions.
This initiative is part of the municipal strategy for climate change adaptation, aiming to minimize the effects of increasingly frequent and intense heatwaves due to global warming. The goal is to protect citizens and promote more sustainable habits.
Furthermore, the City Council, in collaboration with Aguas de Valencia, has installed the first urban fountain providing filtered, refrigerated, and free water. This infrastructure will allow for healthy hydration throughout the year and will contribute to reducing single-use plastic consumption by facilitating the refilling of reusable bottles.
These measures are in addition to other previous actions by the council to move towards a more sustainable and resilient city, such as expanding green areas, installing shading in parks, improving energy efficiency in municipal buildings, upgrading public lighting to LED technology, and conducting environmental awareness campaigns.

"The fight against climate change is not an option, but a responsibility that we must all assume from all administrations. In Mislata, we are promoting concrete actions to protect our neighbors from the effects of extreme heat and to move towards a more sustainable, healthy city prepared for future challenges."

Carlos F. Bielsa · Mayor of Mislata

"The climate shelters and the new refrigerated water fountain are examples of useful and accessible measures that improve citizens' quality of life and reinforce our commitment to sustainability and collective well-being."

Carlos F. Bielsa · Mayor of Mislata
Through these initiatives, Mislata continues to consolidate a roadmap based on climate action, environmental protection, and the improvement of public services, placing people at the center of municipal policies.
