This annual celebration, which will fill the city with activities, includes book presentations, public readings, storytelling sessions, and musical performances. The event will culminate with the traditional 22nd Book Fair.
“"The Week of Letters is one of the most anticipated cultural events, an essential date for our city. This program is designed for all audiences and allows us to bring literature and reading closer to children, young people, and adults, thus fostering reading habits and a love for culture."
Among the highlighted preliminary activities, on April 14 at 7:00 PM, the cloister of the Casa de Cultura will host a poetry and music concert in homage to the poet Ángel González, performed by Dulce Cano Trío.
The Casa de Cultura will also be the setting for various literary presentations. On April 15, Salva Valero will present his book Nunca juegues a la Ouija, while on April 16, journalist and writer Vicent Xavier Contrí will do the same with his work La fúmiga. Havia de passar. Both sessions will begin at 7:00 PM.
One of the most emblematic activities is the public reading, which this year reaches its 24th edition. The day on April 17 will begin at 5:30 PM with the children's and youth reading of Zoo il·lustrat, by Toni Sánchez and Ricard Tàpera. It will continue with the reading in Valencian of La dona forta, by Maria Beneyto, and will conclude with the reading in Spanish of the work La península de las casas vacías, by David Uclés. This activity is open to the participation of all citizens.
The program also includes storytelling for family audiences. On April 18 at 12:00 PM, Alba Polit will present the show No pulsas el botón... o sí?.
The Week of Letters will culminate with the 22nd Manises Book Fair, which will take place on April 19 in Rafael Atard Square, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The inauguration, scheduled for 10:30 AM, will feature a performance by the Societat Musical La Artística Manisense.
Throughout the fair day, there will be book signings, express interviews with authors, bookstore stands, storytelling, and shows. In addition, three book sets will be raffled among buyers. The Municipal Public Library will have its own stand with various activities, and the little ones can enjoy a show at 6:00 PM.
With this initiative, the Manises City Council reaffirms its commitment to promoting reading and culture, offering a varied program to foster a love for books among citizens.
