This new axis, part of a larger 56-kilometer project that will surround the metropolitan area of Valencia, strengthens the daily connection between both municipalities. The objective is to encourage daily commutes on foot or by bicycle, offering an alternative to motorized traffic in one of the most densely populated urban areas of the province.
The action now allows safe travel along the route between Sedaví and the vicinity of València Sud, crossing Picanya via a continuous and accessible itinerary. This axis is key for a region where short distances between municipalities favor the use of bicycles or walking.
One of the most relevant elements is the pedestrian bridge over the Metrovalencia tracks, which eliminates a historical barrier in the area and guarantees a safe and accessible crossing. This improves permeability between neighborhoods and municipalities in an environment particularly fragmented by infrastructure.
The section between Sedaví and Picanya was significantly affected by the DANA (cold drop), which forced the suspension and rethinking of part of the works. Its partial commissioning also represents a symbol of recovery for l'Horta Sud, where infrastructures have had to adapt to an increasingly demanding climate context.
The investment, totaling 3.6 million euros funded by European Next Generation funds, is integrated into a broader strategy that combines sustainable mobility with resilience against floods. In this regard, the Green Ring will connect with future floodable parks. It is expected that before summer, the section will be completely finished, extending the route to Pinedo and strengthening l'Horta Sud's connection with the coastal facade.
