The Councilor for Democratic Memory of Manises visited Santa Margarida i els Monjos to attend an event commemorating the Second Republic, where Rafael Belda Linares, an aviator based in Manises, was honored.

The event remembered Rafael Belda Linares, a young lieutenant aviator who resided in Manises during the Second Republic. Belda died in combat on October 10, 1938, after colliding with an enemy aircraft in Amposta (Tarragona).

"We could not miss this event which honors the memory of those who gave their lives for the defense of democracy, like Rafael Belda. These acts not only serve to remember the past, but also to reinforce our commitment to democratic values in the present and future."

The commemorative program began on Friday, April 17, with the screening of interviews with relatives of republican aviators and mechanics, as part of the 'Anonymous Heroes' project, followed by a discussion.
On Saturday, April 18, a recognition was held for the Patrulla Llauradora, part of the third “escuadrilla de los Chatos” from the Monjos airfield during the Civil War. The event included a guided tour of the CIARGA (Center for the Interpretation of Republican Aviation and Air War) and an institutional act with representatives from the Diputació de Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
All programming was carried out in collaboration with ADAR (Association of Republican Aviators), the Institut d'Estudis Penedesencs, and the families of the honored aviators.
