The third vice-president and Minister of Environment, Vicente Martínez Mus, has visited section 2 of the Metropolitan Green Ring of València, between Sedaví and Picanya, with the opening of almost 5 kilometers, including a footbridge over the metro tracks.

Martínez Mus explained that the Green Ring will have a total length of 56 kilometers, forming a continuous route that borders the entire metropolitan area of València and connects different municipalities through safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
The footbridge now in service is part of the so-called section 2, one of the most affected by the DANA storm. With the opening of this new segment, an additional 5 kilometers are incorporated into the overall route, expanding possibilities for public use and enjoyment and strengthening the connection between urban environments and natural spaces, as indicated by the minister.

"This action is part of the Endavant plan, aimed at improving metropolitan mobility through sustainable alternatives, and will be integrated with floodable parks, combining prevention against climatic events with new quality public spaces."

The Sedaví–Picanya section, with a length of 5.6 kilometers, is part of the metropolitan cycle-pedestrian itinerary that will connect the València area. It is expected that the entire section will be fully operational before summer, after the installation of the footbridge over the Silla road, which will take place in the coming weeks and will allow access to Pinedo.
The works have focused on the section between the initial roundabout and kilometer point 2+829, where it connects with the CV-400 cycle-pedestrian route, and on the section running from the underpass beneath this same road, at kilometer point 3+479, to the vicinity of the València Sud facilities, where the footbridge over the Metrovalencia tracks is now in service.
This structure, approximately 40 meters long and 5 meters wide, has been designed as a tubular lattice metal footbridge to safely cross the railway line with full guarantees of safety and accessibility. Its installation took place last summer, during the final phase of reconstruction works that allowed Metrovalencia service to be restored after the DANA.
The works on this section, which began in June 2023 and resumed after the floods, have an investment of 3.6 million euros financed with European Next Generation funds. The Metropolitan Green Ring of València is a strategic infrastructure for connecting metropolitan municipalities, promoting sustainable mobility and territorial integration. The project aims to create a continuous 56 km cycle-pedestrian infrastructure, divided into nine sections.
Currently, six sections (1, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9) are fully operational, while the final phase of section 2, partially opened today, is being addressed. In parallel, actions are being developed in section 5, affected by the DANA as it runs through the Turia Natural Park, and progress is being made on the project for section 8, in the coastal area of Alboraya. Also present at the event were the Director General of Terrestrial Transport Infrastructures, María José Martínez Ruzada, and the Deputy Mayor of València City Council, Julia Climent.
