The political situation in Compromís Picassent is tense following the renewal of the Local Board. The decision by Leticia Hernandis, Councilor for Commerce, to retract her resignation has triggered a schism within the coalition with Els Verds.
The extraordinary assembly, convened with only 48 hours' notice, approved the new local party leadership, with Francesc Felipe as the new local secretary, Kerly Poma as Secretary of Organization and Finance, and Fede Rubio as Secretary of Communication. These positions replace the executive led by Esther Molina for the past three years.
Esther Molina, a militant for 18 years, learned of her dismissal upon receiving the assembly's convocation. "I never resigned. I found out when I received the email invitation, which I should normally have sent myself as organization secretary," she stated, lamenting the lack of prior consultation and communication. Molina believes the assembly was a "charade" to legitimize Hernandis, whom the party and the public are demanding resign.
Molina attempted to challenge the decision with the national Executive, but her claims were rejected. She criticizes that the new elections were held with "closed and unconsensuated lists, against Compromís's principles," unlike when she was elected by secret ballot. "After 18 years as a militant, I don't recognize the party. I feel sorry for Picassent; the project we started won't go anywhere," she admitted.
Els Verds, who formed a coalition with Compromís and provided the candidate leader in 2023, Vicent Enrique Pérez, also criticize their exclusion. They claim to have learned of the extraordinary assembly's convocation via email, without prior discussion of the agenda items. "It ignores the participation and respect due to all organizations that are part of Compromís," they state, and are considering further actions to defend their rights as a member formation.
