The demonstration, called by over 200 civic, social, and trade union entities, along with victim associations and the Acord Social Valencià (ASV), has called for "justice" under the banner 'Mazón a pressó'. This marks the first time the protest has been held in Paiporta, considered the "ground zero" of the dana, where 56 lives were lost to the storm.
Representatives of the victim associations have voiced their "disagreement" with the immunity of former Generalitat president Carlos Mazón, labeling the Consell's management as "criminal". They recalled the human losses in Paiporta, such as residents dying while vice-president Susana Camarero left the Cecopi, or a teacher's death while Rovira traveled to Alicante. The fight for the future continues due to the uncertainty of similar future catastrophes.
Dolores Ruiz, who lost two children and her husband, stated they "will continue fighting" because "while they were dying, Mazón was at a meal". Toñi García added, "We will continue fighting for the truth until the end". The slogan "for the dana's towns, neither forget nor forgive" echoed during the march.
The demonstration's route, starting from Plaça de l'Església de Sant Jordi, concluded at Plaça Major, where a manifesto was read. The song "El riu no té culpa" by Alejandro and Maria Laura provided the soundtrack. The march also served to denounce the municipality's state of deterioration, with pending projects such as 22 kilometers of sewage to be redone, damaged sidewalks, the CEIP l'Horta in temporary classrooms, and the unusable Auditorium and municipal swimming pool.
