The festivities had a special character this year as they coincided with the commemoration of the 775th anniversary of the Comú de Pescadors of the Albufera. To mark this milestone, the City Council unveiled a ceramic mural at the Casa dels Pescadors, a piece that recognizes the work of the generations that have kept artisanal fishing alive in the lake.
The events began with the transfer of the image of Sant Pere from the church of San Miguel, accompanied by the Unió Musical de Catarroja. The procession traveled along the traditional paths to the port, where the blessing of the waters took place after a journey on traditional boats.
“"Sant Pere al Port is one of the traditions that best represents the soul of our town. It is a celebration that connects us with our history, with the Albufera, and with the generations of Catarroja residents who have built their lives around fishing."
The day served to highlight the municipality's intangible cultural heritage and the importance of the Les Barraques neighborhood. The celebration, which combines religious tradition and popular identity, remains a fundamental pillar for the conservation of Catarroja's living memory.
