The representative from Benetússer participated in the first meeting of the Emergency working group, proposing improvements for municipal decision-making during crisis situations.

The representative from Benetússer participated this Wednesday in Utiel in the first meeting of the Emergency working group. This group is part of the mixed commission for reconstruction after the DANA (depresión aislada en niveles altos), comprising town councils, the Government of Spain, and the Generalitat Valenciana. During the meeting, several proposals were put forward to improve municipal decision-making in emergency situations.
In this regard, the provincial deputy also requested clearer instructions for town councils from higher administrations, which have more information and specialized technical personnel. She emphasized the need to simplify messages to facilitate municipal management.

"We see many types of emergency codes with numbers or colors, and we need messages to be clearer so that municipal decision-making is correct."

the Benetússer representative
She took the opportunity to express gratitude for the publication, a few months ago, of the Guide of Recommendations for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena, drafted by the 112 of the Generalitat Valenciana. This guide has been the basis for decision-making in the municipality during recent rainfall episodes.
Another contribution from Benetússer at the meeting was the possibility of studying the zoning of certain population centers in emergencies, as occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic. As argued by the representative, it makes no sense for each town council to implement early warning systems with loudspeaker networks in the streets if messages can be contradictory between neighboring municipalities.
Finally, another demand joined by Benetússer is the need for training for municipal technical staff in emergency matters. For this purpose, both the Government of Spain and the Generalitat Valenciana have been asked to provide regulated and specific training for municipal personnel.
