Alfafar will inaugurate its first Book, Commerce, and Gastronomy Fair on April 17, an initiative aimed at revitalizing cultural life and strengthening local commerce in the town.

For three days, the Town Hall square will become a meeting point for residents, bookstores, businesses, and local associations. The proposal goes beyond a traditional literary fair, combining book presentations with workshops, live music, and family activities, with the goal of attracting diverse audiences and generating economic activity in the urban center.
The event is born with a dual purpose: to promote reading and to serve as a showcase for local commerce. The City Council emphasizes that the fair aims to consolidate itself as a revitalization tool in a region like l'Horta Sud, where small businesses are seeking new ways to attract customers against other consumption models.
Throughout the weekend, bookstores and shops will share space with cultural proposals ranging from manga or watercolor workshops to informative talks and professional demonstrations. The program also includes presentations of works linked to the territory, such as studies on l'Horta Sud or publications focused on the local history of Alfafar.
The fair kicks off on Friday, April 17, in the afternoon with the opening of stalls and several literary presentations, plus a concert. Saturday, April 18, will concentrate the bulk of family activities, with children's workshops, theater, and proposals related to health and well-being promoted by local businesses. Sunday, April 19, will continue the focus on family audiences with creative activities, demonstrations of Valencian tradition, and new encounters with authors. The day will culminate with musical performances and a tablet raffle to encourage book purchases.
Beyond the program, the underlying objective is to consolidate a space for coexistence in the center of Alfafar. In a region like l'Horta Sud, where proximity between municipalities favors mobility, the Consistory also aims to attract visitors from nearby towns and make the fair a benchmark event.
