Massamagrell hosted its II Book Fair this weekend, solidifying it as a prominent cultural event that attracted residents with a varied program and meetings with authors.
During April 17 and 18, citizens enjoyed a combination of literature, family activities, and encounters with writers. The event, organized by the Massamagrell Public Library to mark Book Day, achieved its goal of bringing reading closer to the public, promoting culture in the streets, and boosting local commerce, with notable participation throughout the weekend.
“
"We have managed to turn Massamagrell into a meeting point for readers, authors, and local businesses, demonstrating that culture is also a tool for revitalization and coexistence."
The program kicked off on Friday with a day dedicated to democratic memory, which included the literary gathering Voices of Memory with an award-winning writer, moderated by a renowned journalist, and a storytelling session. On Saturday, the fair continued with proposals for all audiences, such as a family puppet show, a creative writing workshop led by an author who was a finalist in literary awards, and the awards ceremony for the micro-story and poetry contests.
“
"The public's response has been very positive, with activities that have brought together people of all ages and allowed them to experience reading in a close, shared, and participatory way."
One of the highlights was the awards ceremony for the VI Express Micro-story Contest and the II Express Poetry Contest, organized by the Municipal Library through social media. During the event, the finalists shared their texts in an open recital, highlighting local literary creativity. The fair involved various municipal departments and the participation of local bookstores Nou Barranquet and Paperets, reinforcing support for local businesses.
With this second edition, the Massamagrell City Council reaffirms its commitment to promoting reading, culture, and the revitalization of the municipality, with the aim of continuing to consolidate the Book Fair as a benchmark event in the local cultural agenda.
