Last Saturday night, the streets of Albalat dels Sorells, in l'Horta Nord, became the setting for a simulated zombie apocalypse. The event, organized by the company Survival Zombie, transformed the town into a large-scale escape game where participants had to overcome various challenges to avoid being captured by the undead.
According to María Rey, production manager at Survival Zombie, the event lasts six hours and combines role-playing, strategy, and teamwork. Attendees must complete challenges while evading pursuing zombies, making ingenuity and coordination key elements for survival within the game.
The experience doesn't end with capture. Anaïs Salvat, events director at Survival Zombies, notes that players who are 'killed' can continue participating as survivors or try their hand at being the hunters, switching sides.
Attendees have expressed their enthusiasm for this initiative, describing it as an adrenaline-filled experience with a gamified horror story that blends cinematic elements and social role-playing. This activity tours different towns across Spain each year and has garnered a large following over fourteen editions.
