Hundreds of people gathered in Silla for a solidarity event to keep alive the memory of the DANA victims, demanding justice, truth, and reparation.

More than 600 days after the DANA on October 29, 2024, which caused 230 deaths and changed the lives of thousands of Valencians, victims continue to fight against oblivion. The solidarity event held in Silla, promoted by the state network "Do Not Forget the DANA," has demonstrated the continued significant social and political support for their demands.
Edu Puerta, spokesperson for the network encompassing 125 associations, explained that the objective is to give visibility to the fight for "truth, justice, and reparation." The event brought together hundreds of people, including personalities from civil society and politics, who expressed their anger over the management by the Consell of Mazón and for what they consider insufficient legal and political consequences. The absence of PP officials was noted, with Rosa Álvarez, president of the Association of Fatal Victims of Dana 29-O, stating: "You are either with the victims or against them."

Memory is not getting stuck in pain, it is walking towards hope. We remain convinced that memory is the best way to care for the future.

The event featured performances by Nacho Duato's ballet company, La María, Alejandro and María Laura, Jonathan Pocoví, and Rei Ortolà. There was also institutional representation with minister Diana Morant, the Government's commissioner for the DANA, Zulima Pérez, Compromís spokesperson Joan Baldoví, Universitat de València vice-rector Carlos López Olano, and representatives from CCOO, UGT, and Intersindical unions.

Victim representatives thanked the support received and pledged to continue their fight. Mariló Gradolí concluded the speeches with a "No to Mazón's special jurisdiction," which prompted shouts of "Mazón to prison." Nacho Duato also expressed his wish that the event not be forgotten and that the former president not remain under special jurisdiction. Minister Diana Morant called on the PP to withdraw Mazón's deputy seat, emphasizing the importance of being "by the people's side." Joan Baldoví agreed on the necessity of being present at this act of "dignity and reaffirmation."
