Iván Ortolá has once again placed himself among the category's best, just ten days after achieving his first Moto2 victory in Brno. The rider from l'Horta Nord was part of the leading group for a significant portion of the race, crossing the finish line behind David Alonso, Manuel González, Senna Agius, and Izan Guevara.
The victory was decided by a narrow margin of 24 thousandths of a second. David Alonso overtook Manuel González in the final acceleration towards the finish line, after both arrived almost side-by-side at the last chicane. Senna Agius completed the podium 0.234 seconds behind the winner.
The fifth position in Assen confirms Iván Ortolá's consistent evolution in recent competitions. The rider from Puçol arrived in the Netherlands after securing his first Moto2 victory in Brno, where he precisely overtook David Alonso at the final corner. Previously, Ortolá had come close to the podium with a fourth position at the Catalan Grand Prix and concluded his debut season in the category with his first Moto2 podium in front of the Valencian crowd.
In Assen, the QJMOTOR-Xeramic-MSI rider maintained a competitive pace within the chasing pack, successfully holding off Daniel Holgado, who finished sixth, seven seconds behind the winner.
Following this event in the Netherlands, the World Championship will head to the Sachsenring circuit for the German Grand Prix, where the rider from Puçol will aim to continue his presence among the Moto2 frontrunners.
