Urgent Repair of General Collectors in La Pobla de Farnals

The Consell has declared an emergency for the repair of general collectors 3, 4, 6, and 7 of the sanitation system in La Pobla de Farnals, Massalfassar, and Puçol, due to detected breaks and collapses.

The Consell approved this Friday the emergency declaration for the repair of general collectors 3, 4, 6, and 7 of the sanitation system in La Pobla de Farnals, within the municipalities of Massalfassar, Puçol, and La Pobla de Farnals, as well as the corresponding technical management.
The third vice-president and Minister of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory, and Recovery, Vicente Martínez Mus, explained that the action, promoted by the Public Entity for Wastewater Sanitation (EPSAR), responds to the detection of several breaks in the collector network after the appearance of "a significant outflow" of wastewater in one of the sections and subsequent inspection of the entire infrastructure.
Technical reports have confirmed incidents at various points in the network, with breaks and collapses in different general collectors. These issues are attributed to the infrastructure's deterioration after 27 years of operation, as well as damage to fibrocement, ground collapse, and erosion in certain sections.
The planned actions involve the repair and replacement of the affected sections of the general collectors. This includes renewing existing pipelines with new ones made of different materials depending on the section, executing trenches or alternative routes where necessary, and installing temporary pumping or flow diversion systems to ensure service continuity during the work.
The plan also includes the restoration of road surfaces and coordination with the affected town councils for traffic management and minimizing disruptions to citizens and existing services.
The total budget amounts to 2,064,790 euros, of which 1,911,818 euros are for the execution of the works and 152,972 euros for technical management. The estimated execution period for the works is ten months.
This action will "provide a short-term response to the detected incidents and ensure the proper functioning of the infrastructure while, in parallel, advancing a project for the integral renovation of the entire sanitation and treatment system of La Pobla de Farnals".
