A total of 51 officers from the Paterna Local Police have received recognition from the City Council for their public service and voluntary participation in municipalities affected by the storm.

The institutional event, presided over by the mayor of Paterna, Juan Antonio Sagredo, along with the Deputy Mayor of Interior, Nuria Campos, the Director General of Public Security, Erich Vanacloig, and the Chief Commissioner, Rafael Mestre, was attended by commanders from various Security Forces and Corps, mayors and authorities from affected municipalities, as well as council members from the government team and the municipal corporation.
During his speech, Sagredo highlighted the magnitude of the tragedy and praised the solidarity of the people of Paterna, emphasizing that "unity is a human response" and that the people of Paterna mobilized when Valencians needed each other.
The mayor praised the "professionalism, bravery, and dedication to service" of the Paterna Local Police, noting they were an extraordinary example by helping and extending a hand to neighboring municipalities going through difficult times. "Today we recognize a way of understanding public service and those who were there when they were most needed," he added.
Sagredo emphasized that each of the 51 decorated officers was "an essential part of that collective response," and highlighted the leadership of the Head of Local Police, Rafael Mestre, at the helm of an "exemplary, professional, and effective" force.
Special mention was also made to Superintendent José Miguel Colás for his professional career, on the occasion of his imminent retirement, highlighting his contribution to the relationship between the Local Police, the City Council, and the city.
For his part, Chief Commissioner Rafael Mestre thanked the solidarity and coordinated response of officials, workers, and managers of the public company GESPA, who, along with the Local Police, acted through the Municipal Emergency Center (CECOPAL) after October 29th. He underscored the value of teamwork in emergency situations.
With this tribute, the Paterna City Council recognizes the professionalism, human commitment, and dedication to public service of its Local Police in critical moments.
