Rafelbunyol has defined its strategy for housing, mobility, sustainability, digitalization, and quality of life with the approval of the Urban Agenda. This document, which will also facilitate access to European and state funding, will serve as a guide for planning future municipal actions and defining the town's model for the coming years.
The Urban Agenda is a planning tool promoted within the framework of Agenda 2030 and European directives. It allows city councils to design, in an orderly and participatory manner, the municipality's priorities in areas such as mobility, urban planning, environmental sustainability, housing, digitalization, public spaces, and social cohesion. With this approval, the municipality positions itself among the towns that already have a comprehensive urban development strategy, an increasingly important instrument for accessing European funding calls and other supramunicipal aid.
The mayor, Fran López, highlighted that “the Urban Agenda is not just a technical document, but a roadmap built thinking about how we want our town to be in the coming years”. He emphasized that “it will allow us to better plan investments, prioritize real needs, and apply with greater guarantees for European funds and other public financing lines”. For his part, the Councilor for Sustainable Urban Development, Mario Carrera, remarked that “this work reflects a more sustainable, accessible, modern municipality model designed to improve citizens' quality of life”.
The document includes various strategic lines and projects related to the ecological transition, energy efficiency, improvement of public spaces, digital transformation of the administration, and strengthening of public services and citizen participation. The City Council will make the full content of the Urban Agenda available to citizens, thus reaffirming its commitment to transparency. The municipal corporation has thanked the participation of associations, collectives, technical staff, and residents in the various working groups. The drafting was funded by the Provincial Council of Valencia.
