The Rafelbunyol City Council has completed the first phase of the Pla neighborhood redevelopment, an initiative that included the construction of a new bike lane on Calvari Street and involved an investment of 470,690 euros.
This significant upgrade, fully funded by the Diputación de València's 2022-23 Investment Plan, has connected the Paco Camarasa municipal sports center with school routes. The primary goal is to enhance the safety of daily commutes for children and young people who use bicycles or scooters.
The intervention adopted a single platform design prioritizing universal accessibility. The paving stones were specifically chosen to facilitate movement for people with reduced mobility and to decrease noise from road traffic, contributing to a quieter and more inclusive environment.
“
"It means starting the recovery of the town's most traditional neighborhood and fulfilling an aspiration that we will complete throughout 2026."
In addition to mobility improvements, a comprehensive renovation of the water supply and sanitation networks was carried out. The new urban design also promotes rapid rainwater drainage, improving management during periods of intense rainfall.

"The completion of this action represents a very important step in the urban transformation of the municipality towards a more accessible, safe, and sustainable model. Furthermore, connecting the sports center with school routes via a safe bike lane was a necessity and today it is a reality that especially benefits young people and their families."
With this action, the streets included in Phase 1 are now designated as residential streets, fostering coexistence between pedestrians and vehicles. In these areas, pedestrians have priority, vehicle speed is limited to 20 km/h, and drivers must yield to pedestrians and park only in designated spaces. Pedestrians can use the entire circulation area, respecting coexistence with vehicles, and games and sports activities are permitted.
