The Paterna City Council, through the Local Police's Emergency and Environment Unit, has begun reviewing the Guardian system for forest fire prevention in anticipation of summer and high temperatures.

This strategic system, designed to protect the municipality's forest environment, consists of 22 water cannons capable of safeguarding 2,000 hectares of woodland in La Vallesa. During testing, the device also received support from the Local Police's aerial assets, thereby strengthening the coordination and effectiveness of municipal resources in potential emergency situations.
The cannons, installed on towers between 12 and 16 meters high, are equipped with high-pressure sprinkler systems capable of discharging up to 1,000 liters per minute. Their primary function is preventive, activating before fire reaches vulnerable areas to moisten vegetation and soil.

"The fine-tuning of this system allows us to anticipate risk at a particularly sensitive time, such as the arrival of summer, when temperatures and the danger of fires increase."

This increases the relative humidity of the environment and significantly reduces its combustibility, creating a “green firebreak” that hinders the advance of flames. The council thus reinforces its commitment to innovation and security, consolidating the Guardian project as a key tool in fire prevention and the protection of Paterna's natural heritage, complemented by other technical and human resources such as smoke detectors, the Watchtower, the forest brigade, and the Drone Unit.
