The Massamagrell City Council has formalized the creation of the Local Council for Children and Adolescents (CLIA), a new body aimed at integrating the voices of young people into municipal decision-making.

The CLIA is established as a stable participation space for minors aged between 8 and 16 years, where they can express their opinions and collaborate in the design of local policies that directly affect them. With this initiative, the council takes a step forward in its commitment to citizen participation and the recognition of childhood and adolescence as active subjects of rights.
The council is composed of students from 5th and 6th grade of Primary School and 1st and 2nd year of ESO, who will serve as representatives for a period of two years. This composition ensures diversity and promotes the direct involvement of young people in decision-making. Its operation will be structured through regular meetings where proposals will be debated and subsequently submitted to the city council.

"With the creation of the CLIA, we give a voice to children and adolescents, allowing them to participate in the construction of the municipality. Listening to them is fundamental for designing policies that are better adapted to their reality."

The Education Councilor highlighted the educational value of the project, stating that the CLIA is not only a space for participation but also a tool to foster values such as democracy, co-responsibility, and active citizenship from an early age. The goal is for young people to feel part of their municipality and protagonists of their present and future.
Furthermore, the establishment of the CLIA will allow Massamagrell to become part of the regional network of children's councils, facilitating the exchange of experiences with other municipalities, access to training resources, and the possibility for local proposals to be elevated to higher levels of participation.
