The Mayor of València has described the Spanish Government's management of the migrant regularization process as a «botch», leading to endless queues at the City Hall. Since early morning, the building has become a hub for numerous migrants seeking to regularize their status in the country.
Municipal services have set up four queues at the entrance: one for registrations, another for tax procedures, a third for general records, and the last for obtaining the vulnerability report, which is crucial for regularization. While the first three remain empty, the last queue has hundreds of people, indicating a significant collapse.
“"I believe it has been a real botch by the Government of Spain. It has dumped a large number of people on municipalities who wander around without information, without knowing the process well."
The mayor noted that other major cities such as Madrid, Seville, and Zaragoza are also overwhelmed by the same situation. Furthermore, she has reported that some city councils are referring people to València, claiming they do not perform special registrations in their municipalities, despite access to regularization depending more on the vulnerability report than on registration.
Regarding the reinforcement of Social Services, the mayor explained that they will do everything possible, but the volume of attention is unmanageable. She emphasized the need for prior planning with city councils to properly manage this process.
