The Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV) and the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSE-UV) bring together over 80 entities for the 18th edition of Expociencia, a free event showcasing science's contribution to well-being and sustainability.

The event, scheduled for May 9 from 10 AM to 2 PM, will transform the facilities of the PCUV and ETSE-UV into a meeting point for the scientific community and the public. Organized by the PCUV with the support of the University of Valencia, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in the Valencian Community, and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities of the Generalitat Valenciana, it will feature over a hundred activities driven by more than 80 entities from the research, academic, and business ecosystems.
Under the slogan 'Caring with science: understanding ourselves to live better,' this edition focuses on the role of scientific knowledge as a tool to improve individual and collective well-being. It promotes an integrative approach connecting health, technology, sustainability, and society, offering a diverse itinerary ranging from biomedicine and biotechnology to particle physics, chemistry, materials science, and digital technology.
Among the proposals, the public will be able to discover how viruses and bacteria are researched, how new materials are developed, or how large particle accelerators work. Areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and data analysis will also be explored. Biodiversity and the environment will feature prominently, with activities focused on ecosystems, sustainability, and conservation, along with proposals on food, nutrition, and food safety, and outreach in mathematics and statistics.

"With this year's motto, we want to highlight how science helps us better understand ourselves and take care of our health, our environment, and our society from an integral perspective. The One Health approach reminds us that human health, animal health, and the planet's health are deeply interconnected, and Expociencia is an opportunity to bring that knowledge to citizens in a clear, accessible, and participatory way."

The thematic diversity reflects broad institutional participation, including institutes from the UV Science Park such as the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol), the Institute of Materials Science of the University of Valencia (ICMUV), the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC, CSIC-UV), the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC), and the Institute of Research in Robotics and Information and Communication Technologies (IRTIC). Reference centers like the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio) and the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (ICBiBE) are also participating, among others.
One of the novelties is the IATEMON augmented reality application from IATA-CSIC, which offers a playful scavenger hunt experience to discover key concepts in food science. The event also includes a training program for participating staff and volunteers, aimed at enhancing accessibility and inclusive care, with awareness sessions for people with visual and hearing disabilities, and training in accessible communication.
