The Deputy Director of Emergencies for the Generalitat, Jorge Suárez, is set to testify for the third time as a witness on May 4 before the Catarroja judge investigating the management of the DANA event on October 29, 2024.

This new summons, agreed upon by the investigating judge, follows Suárez's two previous declarations, which took place on December 4 (eight hours) and December 17 (over four hours) at the Catarroja courts.
During his earlier appearances, Suárez addressed issues such as the delay in activating the Es-Alert system, attributed to linguistic corrections in the Valencian version, and the doubts of former counselor Salomé Pradas regarding the use of the phrase "remain in your homes."
Judge Nuria Ruiz Tobarra decided in March to summon him again to clarify aspects of his testimony. Suárez's third declaration is scheduled for May 4 at 9:30 AM, as reported by the High Court of Justice of the Comunitat Valenciana.
Additionally, the investigating judge has set the date for the testimony of the first mayor from the DANA-affected area. This will be Ricardo Gabaldón, mayor of Utiel, the first municipality to experience the effects of the floods. His appearance is scheduled for May 7 at 9:30 AM.
In recent months, the magistrate has agreed to summon 26 mayors from municipalities affected by the DANA, including towns such as Paiporta, Catarroja, Sedaví, Algemesí, Requena, Chiva, and València, although only the date for the first one has been confirmed so far.
In the same judicial proceeding, the magistrate has also ordered that calls made between a witness and the mayor of Sot de Chera on October 31, 2024, be added to the case.
