The Popular Party of Torrent has strongly rebutted accusations from the local PSOE, led by Jesús Ros, labeling their opposition as «deplorable, hypocritical, and deeply detached from the reality of Torrent residents» regarding municipal cultural management.

The general secretary of the PP of Torrent, José Francisco Gozalvo, has denounced the socialists' «double standard». This accusation arises from the PSOE's criticisms regarding the temporary dismantling of the Holy Chalice exhibition for the book presentation by former Government president, Mariano Rajoy.
According to Gozalvo, the socialist criticism lacks legitimacy, as the PSOE organized a similar event on November 21, 2025, in the same Sala Cívica del Antic Mercat. On that occasion, for the presentation of the book Solas en el silencio by journalist Silvia Intxaurrondo, another exhibition also had to be dismantled.

"Back then it was not an 'intolerable grievance', nor an 'eviction', nor an 'image of absolute contempt'. Back then there was no socialist indignation or big headlines. Now there is, because the event was not organized by the PSOE."

The popular party members have recalled that the exhibition dismantled by the PSOE was Julio Romero de Torres: el alma de Córdoba, an inclusive exhibition adapted for people with functional diversity. The PP of Torrent has insisted that the temporary dismantling of exhibitions in the Sala Cívica de l’Antic Mercat «is not exceptional, but a common practice to reconcile the cultural and social activity of the municipality».
As an example, they pointed out that the same Holy Chalice exhibition was also dismantled on November 14, 2025, for the presentation of the book by the Brotherhood of the Virgen de los Desamparados, without the PSOE expressing any criticism at that time. The PP defends that Mariano Rajoy's book presentation was an «event of institutional and cultural relevance» and that the dismantling was «temporary, lasting barely an afternoon, and without affecting its overall programming».
Finally, the PP of Torrent has rejected accusations of contempt for religious heritage, calling them «serious, unfounded, and totally irresponsible», and has asked the PSOE to «abandon sterile confrontation and begin to work responsibly for the residents».
