The Valencia City Council has opened the submission period for the Ciutat de València Literary Awards 2026, an initiative designed to recognize and promote unpublished works across various literary categories.

The deadline to participate in this call will be open until May 26 on the municipal electronic headquarters. These awards aim to recognize unpublished works in different literary categories and promote them through the publication of the winning works by specialized publishers.
The main objective of this cultural initiative is to stimulate literary creation in its various forms, foster emerging and established talent, and promote culture in both Valencian and Spanish. Of the nine categories, the narrative, poetry, theater, and essay modalities each include two awards, one in Spanish and one in Valencian, while the comic category only has one award.
The convened modalities include the Isabel de Villena Narrative Award in Valencian (10,000.00 €), the Vicente Blasco Ibáñez Narrative Award in Spanish (10,000.00 €), the Maria Beneyto Poetry Award in Valencian (6,000.00 €), and the Juan Gil-Albert Poetry Award in Spanish (6,000.00 €). Also awarded will be the Eduard Escalante Theater Award in Valencian (8,000.00 €), the Max Aub Theater Award in Spanish (8,000.00 €), the Celia Amorós Essay Award in Spanish (10,000.00 €), the Josep Vicent Marqués Essay Award in Valencian (10,000.00 €), and the Josep Sanchis Grau Comic Award (10,000.00 €).
Each awarded author will receive a sculpture by Miquel Navarro as a trophy, specifically created for these awards. The submission requirements for each category are detailed in the call available on the electronic headquarters, which also provides all instructions for correctly submitting candidacies.
