The Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, chaired by Juan Roig, has unveiled the 14th edition of the FER Project (Foment d’Esportistes amb Reptes), committing one million euros to 140 athletes from the Valencian Community for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle.
The presentation of FER 2026, marking the halfway point of the current Olympic cycle, took place on Friday, April 10, at L’Alqueria del Basket. This program offers financial support and social promotion to the region's sporting talents, with a focus on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Under the slogan “Based on real dreams,” the FER Project aims to emphasize that the goals of Valencian athletes, however ambitious they may seem, are achievable. This idea is inspired by the cinematic phrase “Based on true events,” adapted to reflect the aspirations of the participants. A recent success story is Quique Llopis's world runner-up title in the 60m hurdles, who received recognition during the event.

"The FER Project continues to fuel the dreams of Valencian athletes. We are convinced that, to a greater or lesser extent, our support contributes to the growth of the beneficiaries of these aids."
FER 2026 comprises 140 athletes, divided into three categories: 45 in the “Elite” level (with aid ranging from €12,000 to €16,000), 50 in “Promises” (from €6,000 to €8,000), and 45 in “Nursery” (from €2,000 to €3,000). Additionally, the FER Coaches program continues, with 14 beneficiaries receiving between €3,000 and €6,000. In total, the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation's investment for these grants amounts to one million euros.
Since its inception in 2013, the FER Project has awarded 1,700 scholarships to 530 athletes, with a total contribution of 11 million euros from Juan Roig. Juan Miguel Gómez highlighted that, after 14 editions, the project has established itself as a “completely differential initiative in the national landscape.”

"I tell everyone that the more you give, the more you receive. The thing is, you have to believe it. I believe it, and it's going great for us. We are very proud of what we are doing at the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation."
Juan Roig emphasized the importance of the athletes' effort and dedication, presenting them as an example for society. He also referred to the success of the Valencia Marathon, promoted by the foundation since 2012, as a sustainable event and a European benchmark.
