The presentation ceremony, held at the Marian Museum, was attended by the councilor for Festivities and Traditions, as well as the rector and vice-rector of the Basilica. The councilor emphasized the importance of continuing the official poster, which was very well received last year, as a tool to disseminate the festival and its meaning.
“"Continuing the official poster is fundamental: it is not just an image, it is a way to bring the festival closer and to help spread what it means to so many people."
The 2026 poster design is inspired by Valencian artistic tradition, using the characteristic cobalt blue of historic ceramics and urban domes, such as that of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken. Additionally, it incorporates floral motifs and a classic typeface that enhances its representative character. The poster and information will be available on the municipal website and on EMT València buses, and can be seen on more than 80 street furniture displays throughout the city starting Tuesday 28.
One of the most notable elements will be the 80-square-meter floral tapestry, which will be installed on Thursday, May 7. This year, this piece will commemorate the 325th anniversary of the completion of the Basilica's dome paintings, a work by Antonio Palomino, a jewel of Valencian Baroque that includes a representation of Our Lady of the Forsaken.
The program of events, which will take place during the weekend of May 8, 9, and 10, will include the traditional dansàs of the fallas and dance groups, as well as a concert by the València Municipal Symphonic Band in the Plaza de la Virgen. During this concert, an unreleased processional march, titled Mare de Déu, composed by Valencian musician Javier Forner and inspired by the Coronation Hymn, will premiere and be played for the first time in the evening procession on Sunday 10. On the night of Saturday 9, a fireworks display will light up the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, followed by more dansàs and a recital by the Associació Cant Valencià d'Estil in the Plaza de la Virgen.
On Sunday 10, the main day of the festivity, will begin with the Misa de Descoberta in the Basilica at 05:00 hours and the Misa de Infantes in the Plaza de la Virgen at 08:00 hours. Afterwards, at 10:00 hours, the image of the Virgin will be transferred to the Cathedral. At 14:00 hours, the pyrotechnics company Aitana will fire the mascletà in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and at 17:30 hours, the general procession will take place through the historic center. Finally, on May 20, the traditional public hand-kissing ceremony in honor of the Mare de Déu will be held starting at 06:00 hours.
