The city of Valencia joins the celebration of International Day for Monuments and Sites with a special program that includes guided tours and free access to Civil War air-raid shelters, from April 17 to 19.

Under the title "Urban Memory Stories: Rediscovering Valencia's Air-Raid Shelters", the initiative aims to bring the Civil War heritage closer to the public, offering a unique opportunity to explore spaces not usually open to visitors, as reported by the city council.
Activities will begin on Friday, April 17, with a conference day at the Valencia City Council air-raid shelter. History and architecture specialists will discuss the historical, archaeological, and patrimonial value of these spaces, as well as their role in the city's collective memory.
The talks include "Civil War and Dictatorship Heritage: What are we talking about?" at 6:00 PM, by Amalia Pérez-Juez Gil, and "Air-Raid Shelters in the City of Valencia" at 7:00 PM, presented by José María Azkárraga Testor.
During the weekend, Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, the focus will be on guided tours of the air-raid shelters. These will be conducted in small groups and require mandatory prior reservation. The itineraries include significant locations such as the shelter on Carrer dels Serrans, the one at IES Lluís Vives, the Ripalda-Sogueros falla shelter, the Vedruna - Sagrat Cor school shelter, and the Valencia City Council shelter.
Additionally, on Saturday, April 18, coinciding with the international day, the city will offer free access throughout the day to some of its most emblematic monuments, such as the Lonja de la Seda, the Serranos Towers, and the Quart Towers.
