The Mobility Service of Valencia City Council has opened a new section of the San Vicente street bike lane, completing the cycling connection that integrates several neighborhoods in the south of the city.

This week, the segment connecting Joaquín Navarro and Dolores Alcaide streets has become operational, linking with already existing sections. Earlier this year, the southern section, between Doctor Tomás Sala and Joaquín Navarro, was inaugurated, followed by the northern section, between Maestro Sosa and Giorgeta Avenue.
The San Vicente street bike lane, spanning 1,600 meters, is bidirectional and located alongside the western sidewalk, separated from the roadway to ensure cyclist safety. The full completion of the work is anticipated for next week.
In addition to the cycling infrastructure, the Mobility Service has restructured the traffic lanes for motorized vehicles on the avenue. Currently, one lane is dedicated to motorized traffic between Roís de Corella street (whose direction has been recently reversed) and the Southern Boulevard.
San Vicente street is one of the most significant thoroughfares in southern Valencia, and this new cycling connection helps integrate the neighborhoods of Sant Marcel·lí, La Creu Coberta, La Raïosa, and Arrancapins. It also connects with other existing bike lanes, such as those on Maestro Sosa, Roís de Corella, Giorgeta Avenue, Dolores Alcaide, Joaquín Navarro, and Doctor Tomás Sala.
This project, with a cost of 657,420.50 euros, originated from the 2017 DecidimVLC Participatory Budgets. It receives a 90% subsidy on its base budget (excluding VAT) through the European Union and Next Generation funds, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
