The city of Valencia has unveiled the logo and commemorative events for the 700th anniversary of Corpus Christi, a historic celebration seeking recognition as a National Tourist Interest Festival.

The Valencia City Council, through the Delegation of Festivities and Traditions, has fully supported the gala presentation of the logo and commemorative events for the 700th anniversary of Corpus Christi in Valencia. The event, organized by the Associació Amics del Corpus in close collaboration with the Department of Festivities and Traditions, has unveiled the special program for one of the city's oldest celebrations, whose historical continuity has been maintained for seven centuries. The act brought together representatives from the festive and cultural spheres of Valencia in a particularly significant year for the projection of Corpus Christi, which in 2026 reaches its 700th anniversary.

"We are living a historic moment. We are presenting a commemoration that very few cities can celebrate: 700 years of uninterrupted history around Corpus Christi in Valencia."

the Councilor for Festivities and Traditions
The councilor emphasized that Corpus Christi has represented one of the city's most stable traditions, sustained over time thanks to the commitment of different generations. She stated that this continuity has not occurred spontaneously but has been the result of the commitment and constant work of those who understood that maintaining this celebration was also a way of preserving the history of Valencia. She also highlighted the work of the Associació Amics del Corpus, whose efforts have been decisive for the preservation of the festivity.
During the event, the heritage associated with Corpus Christi was highlighted, including elements such as the Rocas, traditional dances, the Cabalgata del Convite, and the general procession, which have shaped one of Valencia's most unique festive expressions. The Delegation of Festivities and Traditions has carried out actions aimed at the conservation and protection of festive heritage, both tangible and intangible, within the framework of its preservation and continuity.

"Corpus Christi in Valencia is not just another celebration. It is the 'Festa Grossa' of the city. It is so because of its antiquity, its cultural richness, and because it has managed to stay alive for centuries, with unique elements that are part of Valencia's memory and have no equivalent anywhere else; we are facing a unique festival in Spain."

the Councilor for Festivities and Traditions
Within the framework of the 700th anniversary, the Delegation of Festivities and Traditions has initiated procedures for Corpus Christi in Valencia to advance towards its declaration as a National Tourist Interest Festival. This procedure continues the recognition granted in 2019 as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival by the Generalitat Valenciana. The councilor affirmed that this context makes it the ideal moment to continue strengthening its projection and recognition, a unique opportunity to highlight the city's legacy to the rest of Spain and the world.
