The Valencia City Council, through the Delegation of Festivities and Traditions, has presented the logo and commemorative events for the 700th anniversary of Corpus Christi, one of the city's oldest celebrations.
The presentation gala, organized by the Associació Amics del Corpus in collaboration with the Department of Festivities and Traditions, unveiled the special program for this festivity, which has maintained its historical continuity for seven centuries.
Representatives from Valencia's festive and cultural spheres gathered at the event, highlighting the importance of Corpus Christi in its 700th anniversary. The Councilor for Festivities and Traditions emphasized that this tradition has been preserved thanks to the commitment of various generations.
“
"We are experiencing a historic moment. We are presenting a commemoration that very few cities can celebrate: 700 years of uninterrupted history around the Corpus Christi of Valencia."
The councilor added that the continuity of the festival has not been spontaneous, but rather the result of constant work and the dedication of those who understood that maintaining this celebration was also a way of preserving Valencia's history. In this regard, she highlighted the work of the Associació Amics del Corpus, whose dedication has been crucial for the preservation of the festivity.
During the event, the heritage associated with Corpus Christi was emphasized, including elements such as the Rocas, traditional dances, the Cabalgata del Convite, and the general procession, which form one of Valencia's most unique festive expressions. The Delegation of Festivities and Traditions has carried out actions for the conservation and protection of this festive heritage.

"The Corpus Christi of Valencia is not just another celebration. It is the 'Festa Grossa' (Great Festival) of the city. It is so because of its antiquity, its cultural richness, and because it has managed to stay alive for centuries, with unique elements that are part of Valencia's memory and have no equivalent anywhere else; we are facing a unique festival in Spain."
Within the framework of the 700th anniversary, the Delegation of Festivities and Traditions has initiated procedures for Valencia's Corpus Christi to be declared a National Tourist Interest Festival. This process continues the recognition granted in 2019 as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival by the Generalitat Valenciana. The City Council has indicated that this commemoration is an opportunity to strengthen the knowledge, dissemination, and preservation of this Valencian cultural heritage.
