The National Police in Valencia have arrested a 53-year-old woman, accused of stealing jewelry and money from elderly residents in care homes where she worked, obtaining over 9,300 euros from 23 sales.

The investigation began in August 2023 following a complaint from a woman over 90 years old, a resident in a care home, who detected two unauthorized charges on her bank card totaling 2,600 euros.
The inquiries allowed agents to identify an employee of the same center as the alleged perpetrator. The suspect had already been dismissed after being caught by another worker with a resident's belongings.
According to the investigation, the woman allegedly took advantage of her job to easily access residents' rooms, many of whom were in a particularly vulnerable situation, and steal valuable items without arousing suspicion. The regular access of staff to these rooms facilitated the continuous commission of the thefts.
The arrested woman allegedly sold the stolen jewelry on at least 23 occasions between February 2024 and March 2026 at various second-hand shops in the city, obtaining a profit exceeding 9,300 euros.
For these acts, the woman has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a continuous theft offense and has already been brought before the judicial authorities.
