Metro lines with stops near Valencia's coastline will once again be interrupted, for the second consecutive summer, due to rehabilitation works. Metrovalencia will temporarily cut circulation between the Alameda and Marítim stations on metro lines 5 and 7 to undertake the renovation of the tunnel's infrastructure and superstructure connecting both facilities, with an investment of 10 million euros.
The service interruption affects the stations of Aragó, Amistat, Ayora, and Marítim and will take place from June 25 to August 30. The Generalitat has chosen these dates to minimize the impact on users, given that these lines are heavily used by workers and university students during the academic term.
Once these works begin, the Alameda station will become the start and end point for Metro Lines 5 and 7 operating from Quart or Torrent towards the beach, while Lines 3 and 9 will continue to operate through this station without any modifications.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has recommended that users during the summer period utilize the nearby metro and tram stops for the out-of-service stations, as well as other urban public transport means such as the EMT. The Marítim station will remain open as access to tram lines 6 (destination Tossal del Rei) and 8 (destination Neptú).
The works to renovate the underground infrastructure in the Alameda-Marítim section, approximately three kilometers long, continue those already carried out last year during the same period, with similar impact for residents and tourists who use this public transport to reach the city's sandy areas.
According to Alfonso Novo, managing director of FGV, this intervention is part of the FGV Action Plan 2026-2030, which with a budget exceeding 830 million euros aims to modernize infrastructures and improve the service of Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant.
Specifically, the action is part of the planned initiatives to modernize and renovate the infrastructures of the metro and tram network in Valencia and its metropolitan area, which has a budget of approximately 275 million euros.
In anticipation of this interruption, FGV has planned to reinforce the presence of customer service staff at the Alameda station, which becomes the start and end point for Lines 5 and 7, as well as in Benimaclet as a transfer point and connection for users heading to the beach, as it links with tram Lines 4 and 6.
As alternative means, the Generalitat has also recommended, following coordination meetings with the València City Council, the use of EMT urban public transport services with access points near the affected stations.
