The Local Government Board has given the green light for the provision of 100 Local Police agent positions, which are part of the City Council's Public Employment Offer for 2026, including a total of 376 positions across various municipal services. Of these 100 positions, 70 will be for open entry and 30 for mobility. In the open entry category, 30% of positions are reserved for women, resulting in 21 roles.
The City Council has decreed the urgency in processing this call, given the pressing needs to fill these job vacancies. Municipal spokesperson, Juan Carlos Caballero, highlighted that "this hundred officers will join the 257 who have been incorporated under the government of María José Catalá," emphasizing the steps being taken to equip the city with more security personnel.
This Public Employment Offer for 2026, approved on June 12th, anticipates a maximum of 376 positions, of which 256 will be for open entry. The call also includes 30 positions for firefighters and 15 to strengthen municipal social services, with a particular focus on emergency and citizen security services.
Through this offer, the aim is to reduce the temporary employment rate of municipal staff, currently around 24%, to the 8% stipulated by state legislation. Furthermore, it seeks to rejuvenate the workforce, which has an average age of 52 years, and to address the planned retirements in the next ten years, affecting 1,081 individuals.
