Both cities have maintained a twinning agreement since 2010, focusing on innovation, culture, and urban transformation. An example of this collaboration is the Trinity River Park in Dallas, a major urban project inspired by Valencia's Turia Garden, offering large spaces for public enjoyment. In this project, the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava has also built several iconic bridges that give identity to the river.
The mayor received her Dallas counterpart, who signed the book of honor and presented her with the key to the city of Dallas as a symbol of the twinning. In turn, the mayor presented him with a reproduction of the first seal of the City Council from 1351.
Following the reception at Valencia City Hall, both mayors were received at the Valencia Chamber of Commerce for a meeting with Valencian entrepreneurs. The objective was to explore new business, technological, innovation, and cultural projects that could benefit both localities.
“"Valencia and Dallas are sister cities, avant-garde, united by internationally recognized Valencians such as Sorolla and Calatrava, and this meeting with the mayor of Dallas will pave the way for new cultural and business projects that will benefit our cities."
The Dallas delegation included the Honorary Consul of Spain in Dallas, the Director of International Affairs for Dallas, and the Director of the Meadows Museum, who promoted the exhibition 'The Light of Spain: Sorolla in American Collections' in 2023, highlighting Joaquín Sorolla's influence in the United States.
