The province of Valencia achieved 90.2% occupancy, followed by the Alicante Sur area (84.8%), the Costa Blanca (83.5%), and the province of Castellón (77%), according to data from the tourism employers' association Hosbec. Favorable weather and the safe-haven effect for national and European tourists explain these positive figures.
Valencia and Benidorm are consolidating as "drivers" of a "good start to the season," while Castellón stands out for its growth, with an eleven-point increase in occupancy compared to the previous year. British tourists remain the most loyal market in the Community, and Americans are the leading international market in Valencia city.
In Benidorm, occupancy reached 89.3%, improving on the previous year's figures. The international market, with a predominance of British clients, is the main support for tourism activity. Three- and four-star hotels recorded the best results.
The Costa Blanca gained intensity, closing the month with 83.5% occupancy, almost four points higher than the previous year. The Spanish market accounts for 43% of demand, and the United Kingdom leads foreign markets. Alicante Sur surpassed the Costa Blanca average with 84.8%.
The province of Valencia closed the second half of May with 90.2% occupancy, improving on last year's results. Demand was based on a balance between the national and international markets, with the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, and Italy as the main foreign issuing countries.
Valencia city recorded 91.9% occupancy in the second half and 89.9% at the end of the month, consolidating its international profile. Three-star establishments achieved a spectacular 99% occupancy in the city.
Finally, the province of Castellón saw one of the most significant increases, with 77% occupancy in the second half, eleven points above the previous year. The domestic market accounts for 75.5% of demand, with a growing international contribution.
