The Valencia City Council has activated an informative protocol for pollution due to a suspended dust episode affecting the city since Friday, recommending avoiding outdoor physical activity and prioritizing public transport.

The Valencian capital is experiencing a type 1 pollution episode, caused by the intrusion of Saharan dust. This situation has led the council to issue a series of recommendations for citizens, especially for vulnerable groups.
Measurement stations on Avenida de Francia and Doctor Lluch street have registered daily average PM10 particle values exceeding 50 micrograms per cubic meter, surpassing established thresholds. Other control points have shown concentrations between 30 and 46 micrograms.

Municipal authorities emphasize the importance of avoiding outdoor exercise, especially for children, people over 65 years old, pregnant women, and those with respiratory or cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, the use of public transport or low-emission vehicles is advised to reduce pollution, as well as avoiding agricultural burning and driving smoothly.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts that the maximum dust concentration will persist until early Sunday morning, with the cloud moving towards the Mediterranean. The whitish color of the sky is a clear indicator of the presence of this suspended dust load.
