Unemployment Rate in Valencia Province Reaches Four-Year Low

The first quarter of 2026 closes with an unemployment rate of 10.85%, although the gender gap significantly widens.

The province of Valencia began 2026 with an unemployment rate of 10.85%, its best record in four years, according to EPA data published by the INE.

This figure represents a slight improvement of just 0.06 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2025, when the rate was 10.91%. Across the Valencian Community, unemployment increased by 41,300 people, placing the regional rate at 11.75%.
Over a four-year period, unemployment in the province has decreased by almost one percentage point, with 12,676 fewer unemployed individuals between 2022 and 2026. The worst figure during this period was recorded in 2023, when the rate climbed to 12.69%.
Despite the overall reduction in unemployment, the gender gap has widened considerably. The female unemployment rate rose by 1.57 percentage points, reaching 13.65%, with 93,800 women out of work. Conversely, male unemployment fell by 1.56 points, settling at 8.30%.
This disparity extends the gap between the two rates to 5.35 points, the highest since 2023. In terms of employment, out of 1,283,800 workers in the province, 690,500 are men and 593,300 are women, a difference of 97,200 people.
By sector, services continues to be the main driver of employment in the province of Valencia, with 951,800 employed individuals in the first quarter of 2026. Industry, with 218,500 workers, has consolidated its position as the second-largest sector by employment volume, while agriculture had the lowest occupation, with 27,300 people.
